Working together with our partners and suppliers, we can achieve better outcomes for today and a brighter future for tomorrow.
That’s why we are proud to partner with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI); a not-for-profit organisation that exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in, and better for the global cotton market’s future; by developing Better Cotton as a more sustainable mainstream commodity.
Our Partnership with BCI
We are committed to using our natural resources more responsibly, which is why we have partnered with BCI; one of the largest cotton sustainability programs in the world.
BCI works with a diverse range of people and organisations (from farms and fashion retailers, all the way through to textile brands) to promote measurable and continuing improvements to water management, crop protection practices and the promotion of decent work in cotton-farming communities in 22 countries across the world.
Our commitment to sustainable cotton
As a large cotton user, we believe we have a responsibility to source cotton more sustainably and have set an ambitious target to source 100 per cent of our cotton more sustainably for our clothing, towel and bedding ranges (excluding footwear, accessories and all functional trims (e.g. zips) and decorative details (e.g. lace or ribbons) by July 2020.
Cotton is an important material for Anko and supports the livelihoods of over 250 million people around the world. Although the cotton industry has achieved significant improvements in resource eciency and sustainable farming practices in the past decade, there remain social and environmental challenges in some countries, such as high pesticide and water usage.
We ethically source our manufacturing
We are committed to conducting business in accordance with our international obligations and in compliance with all applicable laws and we work with suppliers who share and follow our high standards of conduct in whichever country they operate.
